Bally Manufacturing Co.

Year: 1991

Bally Manufacturing Corporation was founded by Raymond Moloney in 1932. The company took its name from its first game Ballyhoo. Based in Chicago, the company quickly became a leading manufacturer of the era. In addition to the pinball machines also made slot machines and had a great success in the development and improvements of the machines that were then the nucleus of the nascent industry.

After World War II, where they dedicated to selling minucion and pieces of airplanes, continued with the innovations in the machines pinball and slot machines.

Ray Moloney died in 1958 the company failed quickly. But in 1963 a group of investors bought it and thanks to this purchase Bally became the leader of the slot industry, creating "Money Honey", the first electromechanical slot machine. At the end of 1960 they began to list and acquired Midway Manufacturing that was dedicated to the recreational games.

During the 70's and early 80's the company's business expanded by buying businesses and opening new divisions. But this rapid expansion meant that the company could not handle all departments, and in the late 1980s they were forced to sell several divisions, including Six Flags and Bally Midway. The pinball division was acquired by Williams Industries in 1988.
